Legal Consultant (Real Estate)


Our client, a leading UAE Real Estate company, is seeking a mid/ senior common law qualified lawyer to provide specialised legal counsel and support for real estate-related matters to the company with a particular focus on freehold property sales.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Freehold Property Sales:
    Oversees all legal aspects of freehold property sales, including drafting and negotiating sales agreements, conducting due diligence, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Lease Agreement Preparation:
    Drafts, reviews, and negotiates lease agreements for various types of real estate properties, including commercial, residential, and industrial.
  • Contract Management:
    Ensures that all real estate contracts are legally sound, protect the interests of the company and comply with applicable laws.
  • Due Diligence:
    Conducts thorough due diligence on freehold properties, including title searches, zoning verification, and environmental assessments.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensures compliance with all relevant real estate laws and regulations, including those pertaining to freehold property ownership and transfer.
  • Dispute Resolution:
    Handles legal disputes related to real estate transactions, including contract disputes, boundary disputes, and tenant-landlord disputes.


Required Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent common law legal qualification from the UK, Australia, or New Zealand.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of post-qualification experience in real estate law, with a strong emphasis on freehold property sales.
  • In-depth knowledge of real estate laws and regulations in the United Arab Emirates, with a minimum of 2–3 years regional experience in the UAE, specifically as they relate to freehold property ownership and transfer.
  • Proven track record of successfully drafting and negotiating sales agreements and lease agreements for freehold properties.
  • Strong understanding of real estate development processes and market dynamics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Additional Considerations:
  • Experience in handling real estate transactions involving government entities or public-private partnerships could be beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of the UAE's regulatory environment for real estate development and investment.

The candidate must be eligible to practice law in a common law jurisdiction.
