Senior Accountant - Abu Dhabi

The General Ledger & Reporting Accountant is responsible for maintaining the company’s financial records, ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger, and supporting with preparing financial reports in compliance with regulatory standards. The role involves managing month-end and year-end closings, preparing financial statements, and reporting activities.

Your new role

General Ledger Management:
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of the general ledger, including reviewing and posting journal entries along with development of financial reports and analysis.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately & timely.
  • Reconcile key accounts such as cash, intercompany, and analyse variances.
  • Prepare accruals, prepayments, and other accounting adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain a fixed asset register by recording, disposing & depreciating assets in a timely manner.
  • Record to report process including preparation of financial statements of SPV's & JV's.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
  • Ensure that financial transactions and reports comply with accounting standards.
  • Assist in the development & implementation of internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets.
  • Support external and internal audits by preparing schedules and financial information.
  • Preparation of tax returns & ensuring compliance with tax laws, including VAT, corporate tax & other statutory requirements
Related party & Intercompany Transactions & Reconciliations:
  • Manage intercompany & related party transactions, ensuring accurate recording, reconciliation, and elimination at the group level.
  • Liaise with accounting teams to resolve discrepancies & ensure the completeness of intercompany & related party accounts.
  • Prepare & review interco & related party reconciliations as part of the consolidation process.
Group Financial Reporting:
  • Support prepare accurate and timely consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for the group.
  • Review & analyse financial data from businesses, ensuring accuracy & consistency in reporting.
Process Improvement:
  • Identify and implement process improvements along with participating in the implementation & enhancement of financial systems.

What you'll need to succeed

Min of: 3 years of relevant experience

FIELD OF EXPERIENCE
Experience in retail & F&B or related industry is preferred.

TECHNICAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Strong IFRS knowledge
Strong knowledge of Excel & Power BI
Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
Strategic thinking & presentation skills
Experience with Hyperion or other large ERP systems

QUALIFICATION
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
CA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent
