Strategic Planning Director - Government

The Business Planning Department is responsible for overseeing department activities to ensure the successful delivery of short- and midterm strategic objectives. This role focusses on identifying improvement opportunities that align with established KPIs, budgets, and policies while driving organisational excellence and business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Business Management:

Contribute to the design and execution of the division’s strategy and roadmap by providing specialised business insights.
Establish and implement operational plans that align with strategic KPIs and objectives.
Prepare the department’s annual budget and support the division’s overall budgeting cycle.
Monitor and manage budget utilisation effectively, reporting on progress and challenges.
Identify and implement strategies that enhance financial performance and mitigate operational risks.

Market & Business Analysis:
Conduct research and analysis on tourism trends to understand consumer behaviours across seasons and destinations.
Identify and prioritise key market tourism destinations based on demand projections, market trends, and supply capacity.
Use data analytics to drive decision-making, improve tourism promotions, and achieve set targets.
Evaluate trade partnerships and allocate resources based on market priorities to maximise business impact.

Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement:
Lead special projects, including feasibility studies, market investment assessments, and ROI projections.
Act as the primary contact for official documents and government requests.
Establish strong relationships with external stakeholders, such as government entities and consultants.
Provide country managers with regular business insights and reports to optimise market strategies.

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
Develop and implement data-driven mechanisms to improve business planning and execution.
Support departmental leaders in enhancing their business strategies through insights and analytics.
Monitor sales and distribution metrics across tourism markets and recommend improvements.
Oversee visitor experience programs and provide strategic guidance for improvement.

Team Leadership & Organisational Development:
Lead, mentor, and support direct reports in achieving their objectives within set policies and procedures.
Drive a high-performance work environment that aligns with the department’s values and strategic goals.
Identify and recruit key talent to strengthen the Business Planning Department’s capabilities.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent (preferred).
Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent (preferred).
Minimum of 10 years of experience in Business Planning, Analytics, or a related field.
Strong analytical and financial acumen with expertise in data-driven decision-making.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and guide cross-functional teams.
Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
Proficiency in strategic planning, budgeting, and performance tracking.
